From the feed to the output: Find out more about the full extrusion and recycling process of the patented conical, co-rotating twin-screw extruder by MAS. This certified innovation deployed around the world delivers considerably more material to the recycling process than conventional extruders. The twin-screw extruder has a particularly large feed volume. It also stands out thanks to its resource-efficient melting process and impressive degassing performance. For granulate of the highest quality.

Technical Breakthroughs & Performance

Conical co‑rotating design

Patented conical twin‑screw geometry begins with a large feed opening for efficient handling of light-density materials, gradually tapering to enhance pressure and homogenization at discharge

Selective low‑shear processing

The tapering design slows circumferential speed toward the discharge end, reducing shear stress and preserving polymer quality—especially useful for sensitive or delicate resins

Energy‑efficient, fast throughput

Optimized tapering cuts energy use by 20–40 % versus conventional designs PET processing rates reach up to6 t/h with top-tier melt quality

Versatility & Applications

  • Broad material compatibility
Handles all thermoplastics—from PET and PLA to specialty compounds—and supports chemical recycling and direct film extrusion applications
  • Purpose‑built recycling/upcycling
Unlike conventional extruders adapted from compounding, the MAS 110 is specifically tailored for recycling/upcycling, with strong degassing and cleaning modules delivering high‑quality granulate

  • Residual moisture up to 2%
  • Residual contamination up to less than 0.5%

Single-stage or two-stage?

Dry cleaning of plastic can be done in several ways using the DRD principle. The two-stage process dries and cleans at the same time, for example contaminated and moist films. The material is dried by drawing in air from above while heating it. In the double stage, another cleaning chamber without heating elements can be switched on for just cleaning. The result: optimal cleaning and drying.

Alternatively, the dry cleaner can also be used with a focus on the actual drying and cleaning at the same time. Material with residual moisture content from the washing system is dried here and at the same time any washing residue (fines) is removed. The MAS experts will definitely find the optimal solution for your area of application.

About MAS

Founded by recycling pioneer Helmuth Schulz in 2006, the company is revolutionizing the exceedingly high quality standards of twin-screw extruders for the recycling industry. MAS masters the challenges of modern recycling and upcycling requirements thanks to its patented technology and became an international driver of innovation in no time. Customers around the world benefit from environmentally friendly added value while saving energy and resources.
