PRESS RELEASE

Successful Trade Fair Appearance: MAS Presents Revolutionary iQonicTwin Series with HyperPET and PreDensifier at K 2025

Pucking, October 15, 2025 – MAS celebrated a highly successful presence at K 2025 in Düsseldorf. With the launch of the new iQonicTwin series, featuring the innovations HyperPET, PreDensifier, and the Regrind Solution, the Austrian recycling machinery specialist sets new benchmarks in plastic and PET recycling. The response at the MAS booth was overwhelming – numerous expert discussions, new project inquiries, and concrete follow-up meetings underscored the iQ series as a forward-looking technology platform for sustainable plastic recycling.

iQonicTwin HyperPET: A New Benchmark in Food-Grade PET Recycling

With the iQonicTwin HyperPET, MAS introduces a revolutionary platform for food-grade PET recycling. The solution combines MAS’s proven conical co-rotating twin-screw extruder with an integrated pre-extrusion Solid-State Polymerization (SSP) process using infrared radiation and vacuum – completely without nitrogen.

The result: outstanding intrinsic viscosity (IV), stable color quality, minimal acetaldehyde (AA) formation, and significantly reduced energy consumption.

The HyperPET technology enables, for the first time, a shift from traditional “bottle-to-bottle” recycling to “tray-to-bottle” applications, thereby expanding the raw material base beyond used bottles.

Key Benefits

  • Very short SSP residence time with stable IV values
  • Nitrogen-free, energy-efficient process
  • Easy operation and compact design
  • High-quality pellets with consistent IV, color, and low AA values
  • Greater flexibility and improved ROI

The HyperPET solution was developed in collaboration with PET recycling specialist Christian Schiavolin, who played a key role in shaping the technology.

iQonicTwin PreDensifier: Advancing Film and Lightweight Recycling

Another highlight of the fair was the introduction of the iQonicTwin PreDensifier, a joint development between MAS and Siempelkamp Size Reduction (formerly Pallmann). This technology alliance combines the strengths of the Siempelkamp PreDensifier with MAS’s energy-efficient conical co-rotating twin-screw extruder.

The solution was specifically designed for challenging post-consumer films and lightweight streams that were previously difficult to recycle.

Key Benefits

  • Significantly reduced gel formation and black spots
  • Reproducible, stable material quality even with fluctuating feedstock
  • High energy efficiency (~0.22 kWh/kg)
  • No dust emissions, no water injection required
  • Compact design, easy maintenance, and quick cleaning
  • Full process control with automated operation

The iQonicTwin PreDensifier sets new standards in stability, efficiency, and product quality for film and lightweight recycling.

Strong Trade Fair Presence, Strong Response

The MAS booth in Hall 9, Booth D30 was a major attraction for visitors from around the world throughout the K 2025. The feedback was consistently positive:

“With the iQonicTwin series, we have created solutions that will change the market – and this is just the beginning.”
