MAS DRD Dry Cleaning Machine For Waterless Plastic Cleaning
Use dry cleaning for suitable loose contamination and moisture when it creates a better total process. Compare it honestly with wet washing, source segregation and direct processing.
Use the DRD as a stand-alone dry-cleaning system or integrate it before or after a wet washing line. Single-stage and two-stage configurations can be adapted to the material condition, contamination level and required residual moisture.
When Is DRD The Right Cleaning And Drying Route?
DRD is a candidate for pre-shredded plastic fractions with separable loose dust, sand, soil, fines, residual moisture and selected dense foreign matter. Suitability depends on material geometry, bulk density, heat sensitivity, contaminant attachment and the discharge target.
Wet washing or another process may be needed for strongly adhering, oily, sticky, organic, soluble or odorous contamination, or when the downstream specification cannot be reached by dry separation. Source segregation or direct processing may be better when contamination is avoidable or sufficiently low.

Waterless Cleaning At The DRD Stage
The DRD stage uses mechanical movement, heated airflow and dry separation without adding process water. This can avoid wash-water and wastewater-treatment equipment for suitable streams.
The technology can be used where materials cannot, should not or do not need to be washed wet. For more demanding streams, the DRD can complement a conventional washing line as a pre-cleaning or post-cleaning stage.
How the DRD Dry Cleaning Process Works
The DRD combines mechanical movement, heated airflow and staged separation to remove moisture, fines and heavy contaminants from plastic feedstock.

Feed + Rotor
Separate and expose pre-shredded material.
➔

Turbulent Air Drying
Reduce suitable moisture and loosen contamination.
➔

Fine/Heavy Separation
Remove selected fines, dust, sand and heavy particles.
➔

Optional Second Stage
Add cleaning/drying duty only when validated.
DRD Input And Output Conditions
The published DRD process schematic describes the following material conditions. Actual results depend on polymer type, particle geometry, incoming moisture, contamination and machine configuration and should be confirmed through application testing.

Single-Stage Or Two-Stage DRD Configuration
Single-Stage Cleaning And Drying
A compact configuration for simultaneous drying and removal of loose contamination. It is suitable when the material condition can be handled in one chamber or when a second fine-cleaning stage is unnecessary.
Two-Stage Cleaning And Drying
The first stage dries and cleans contaminated, moist material with heated airflow. A second chamber without heating can provide additional fine cleaning for demanding material streams.
Post-Washing Drying And Fines Removal
After wet washing, the DRD can reduce residual moisture and remove remaining fines before extrusion, improving preparation of the washed fraction for downstream processing.
Key Advantages Of DRD Dry Cleaning

No Process-Water Consumption
Dry cleaning and drying take place without process water or wastewater treatment, reducing plant complexity for suitable material streams.

Low Investment And Compact Footprint
The DRD is designed for effective material preparation with comparatively low space requirements and can be integrated into new or existing lines.

Automated, Simple Operation
Fully automated control supports straightforward operation. In batch operation, a defined moisture level can be set according to the process requirement.

Protection Of Downstream Equipment
Removing abrasive contaminants before extrusion helps reduce wear on screw, barrel and downstream components and can lower maintenance demand.

Versatile Material Handling
The technology can process films, flakes, fleece, woven bags, artificial turf, geotextiles and selected production waste in application-specific configurations.

Flexible Line Integration
Use the DRD as a stand-alone system, as pre-cleaning before wet washing or as drying and fine-cleaning after washing.

Low-Maintenance Design
A robust and stable system concept is intended to keep maintenance requirements low and support reliable operation.

Different Machine Sizes
DRD systems are available in different diameters so the equipment can be configured around the application and required capacity.
