MAS 24 And MAS 55 Laboratory Extruders: Small-Scale Extrusion For Material Testing
Use laboratory extrusion to reduce uncertainty in materials, recipes and process settings. State clearly what the trial can predict—and what still requires pilot or production-scale validation.
Keeping material input and additive influx deliberately low without compromising on quality, the MAS laboratory extruders help users evaluate feeding, compounding, extrusion behaviour and output quality before scale-up.
Why The MAS Laboratory Extruders?
MAS 24 and MAS 55 reproduce the conical co-rotating extrusion principle at small scale for formulation work, incoming-material inspection and process trials. Laboratory similarity does not automatically guarantee production-scale output.

Two Models, One Proven Extrusion Principle
The MAS 24 and MAS 55 bring the conical co-rotating twin-screw concept to laboratory scale, so trials run under conditions comparable to a production line.
The MAS 24 has a 24 mm processing-unit diameter and an output of 15–30 kg/h — the smallest extruder in the MAS series, ideal for test runs and recipe development without large material quantities.
The MAS 55 uses a 55 mm processing unit for larger material quantities and extended scale-up testing. Both models keep material and additive consumption low while delivering quality comparable to large MAS extruders.

Key Advantages

Intuitive System Operation
A clear operating concept and integrated terminal support straightforward setup, monitoring and control during laboratory trials.

Versatile Material Testing
Thermoplastics, regrind, flakes, compounds, additives and fillers can be evaluated across a wide range of formulations.

Configurable Melt Filtration
The swivel filter can be fitted with the required micron rating, allowing the filtration setup to be adapted by the user.

Efficient Use Of Test Materials
Low consumption of polymers, additives and fillers reduces trial costs and supports faster return on investment.

Advanced Mixing And Compounding
Strong homogenisation and compounding performance support formulation development, with optional laboratory-scale side feeding.

Easy Servicing Between Trials
Low-wear machine design and accessible components simplify cleaning, maintenance and preparation for the next test.
Built For Material Testing And Scale-Up
The MAS 24 and MAS 55 are used for formulation and recipe development, material sampling, incoming-material inspection, additive and filler trials, recycling feasibility studies, process validation and small-batch production of high-value materials.
In the MAS Technical Test Center, the machines assess feed behaviour, plastification, homogenisation, degassing, compounding and output quality under controlled conditions. Documented results support scale-up decisions and help define the appropriate production-line configuration.
What Our Customers Say
The conical shape is very advantageous when melting the material, where with little shear and very short dwell time, the material is damaged as little as possible.
