Process Low-Bulk-Density Film More Reliably
Stable feeding starts with the right material preparation.
Film type, bulk density, moisture and contamination all affect feeding behaviour and the quality you can achieve in recycling.
MAS identifies the right preparation route and uses the iQonicTwin PreDensifier to feed lightweight film reliably into extrusion-without process-water injection.
Predensifier Or Cutter-Compactor: Which Preparation Route Fits My Material?
The right route depends on film type, bulk density, moisture, loose and embedded contamination, temperature sensitivity, required throughput and target output. A PreDensifier is one option—not the automatic answer for every film stream.
When A Predensifier May Fit
Evaluate the iQonicTwin PreDensifier for lightweight films, fibres, nonwovens and similar low-bulk-density materials when controlled densification and stable feeding into MAS extrusion are required.
When Another Route May Fit
A cutter-compactor, washing line or another preparation concept may be more suitable when the material needs intensive agglomeration, wet washing, different size reduction or a preparation route not covered by the PreDensifier concept.
What MAS Evaluates
MAS validates feedstock processability under application-specific conditions, assessing polymer composition, bulk density, moisture, contamination, feeding behavior, thermal stability and throughput. Recyclate or compound quality is evaluated against defined process and product requirements.
Best Suited For:
What The iQONIC Twin Predensifier Is Designed To Improve
Controlled preparation
Conditions lightweight material for more consistent feeding into the extrusion stage.
Integrated processing
Combines densification and MAS conical twin-screw extrusion in one coordinated concept.
No process-water injection
The densification and extrusion concept operates without process-water injection; upstream cleaning requirements depend on the material.
Operational response
Start-up, shutdown and operating behaviour must be confirmed for the selected configuration and material.
Material quality
Output quality depends on input contamination, moisture, filtration, process settings and the agreed acceptance criteria.
Upgradeable route
CDF Melt Filtration or a Twin-Compound stage can be evaluated when contamination, modification or final quality requirements justify additional equipment.
How DRD Cleaning And Predensification Can Work Together
Some film streams need contamination and moisture reduction before densification and extrusion. For suitable pre-shredded material, MAS DRD Dry Cleaning can be evaluated to remove loose contamination and reduce moisture without a conventional wet-washing stage. The iQonicTwin PreDensifier then conditions low-bulk-density material for controlled feeding into MAS extrusion.
The required route depends on the actual film stream. Confirm contamination type, moisture, bulk density, particle form and target output with representative material before deciding whether DRD, PreDensifier, both technologies or another preparation route is required.

➔

Scalable Upgrade Concept
Modular and future-ready solution that grows with your business needs.
Key Advantages

Material Quality
Reduced gel formation, cleaner melt flow and gentle processing for demanding recycled materials.

Process Reliability
Prevents clumping or cake formation and supports stable production handling.

Fast Operation
Instant start/stop operation with no warm-up phases required.

Simpler Downstream Process
No water injection and fewer related downstream complications.

Advanced Recycling Fit
Suitable for advanced recycling and high-spec compounding needs.

Upgradeable Line Concept
Can be expanded toward MAS Twin-Compound Line quality targets.
When Should A Predensifier Line Be Expanded?
Add equipment only when a verified material or production requirement justifies it. CDF Melt Filtration can be evaluated when solid contamination or filtration stability limits melt quality. A Twin-Compound stage can be evaluated when additives, polymer modification, fibre incorporation or defined compound properties are required.
Before expanding the line, compare the existing bottleneck, target throughput, required output, installation scope, downtime, utilities, operating cost and expected value of the upgraded product.
What Our Customers Say
The conical shape is very advantageous when melting the material, where with little shear and very short dwell time, the material is damaged as little as possible.
