Turn Variable Recycled Input Into Consistent Compounds
Consistent compounds start with the right process route.
Polymer composition, moisture, contamination and batch variation can all affect processing stability and final material properties.
MAS evaluates the required process stages and combines regranulation, filtration, degassing and compounding where an integrated route delivers the best result.
When Does Integrated Regranulation And Re-Compounding Make Sense?
Use the simplest process route that can achieve the required output. An integrated iQonicTwin Regrind line may be relevant when variable PCR or PIR needs several coordinated stages, such as homogenisation, degassing, filtration, additive dosing and property adjustment, in one controlled process.
When A Simpler Route May Be Enough
Straightforward regranulation may be sufficient when the input is clean, consistent and already close to the required properties. Filtration or degassing can also be evaluated as individual process steps when they are the only confirmed bottleneck.
When Integrated Re-Compounding May Fit
Evaluate the integrated route when polymer properties vary, volatiles or contamination must be managed, additives or fillers are required, or the final compound must meet defined rheological and mechanical targets.
What Must Be Validated
Confirm polymer composition and compatibility, contamination, moisture, odour/volatiles, MFR or viscosity, density, colour, additive/filler recipe, feeding behaviour, target throughput and final properties.
Best Suited For:
Which Recycled-Input Problem Must The Line Solve?
Material variability — Define polymer composition, batch-to-batch variation, MFR/viscosity, density, colour and mechanical-property range.
Moisture and volatiles — Measure moisture, odour and volatile content; define the required drying and degassing performance.
Solid contamination — Characterise particle type, size and loading; select filtration from the real contaminant profile.
Property adjustment — Define which properties must be restored or modified and the additive, filler or reinforcing-fibre recipe required.
Polymer compatibility — Identify incompatible mixtures or unknown fractions that cannot be corrected by processing alone.
Acceptance criteria — Agree on throughput, melt stability, contamination, pellet quality, and material property tolerances before the final configuration.
One Line for Recycling and Re-Compounding
The iQonicTwin Regrind line combines material recycling and high-end compounding in one modular system. It upgrades post-consumer and post-industrial plastics into stable regranulate and value-added re-compounds for demanding applications.
Integrated Recycling and Compounding
Regranulation, homogenisation, filtration, degassing and additive compounding are combined in one continuous process.
Patented Twin-Screw Extrusion
The patented conical co-rotating twin-screw extruder provides gentle plastification, efficient mixing and controlled degassing.
Flexible Material Processing
The system can process PE, PP, ABS, PS, PA and selected mixed, variable or lower-grade recycled feedstocks.
Consistent Re-Compound Quality
Controlled mixing and melt preparation support homogeneous granulates with stable material properties, even when input quality varies.
Real-Time Process Control
Continuous monitoring and automatic adjustment help maintain process stability while reducing dependence on manual intervention.
Simplified Line Operation
The integrated configuration reduces separate processing stages, complex side feeding and overall operating complexity.
How iQonicTwin Regrind Works – And What Must Be Validated

Input Characterisation And Recipe Definition
Identify polymer composition, moisture, contamination, MFR/viscosity, density, colour, feeding behaviour and target properties. Define additives or fillers only where the formulation requires them.
➔

Controlled Feeding And MAS Extrusion
Feed the material at a stable rate. Set screw configuration, temperature, pressure, residence time and vacuum for the polymer blend and output target.
➔

Optional Additive Or Filler Incorporation
Dose modifiers, fillers or reinforcing materials at the technically appropriate point. Confirm dosing accuracy, dispersion and any interaction with filtration.
➔

Degassing And Melt Filtration
Remove volatile components and suitable solid contamination to the extent demonstrated by the selected vacuum and filtration concept.
➔

Pelletising And Quality Verification
Verify realistic throughput, pellet consistency, contamination, MFR/viscosity, colour, density and agreed mechanical properties against the acceptance criteria.
Additional Operational Benefits
The iQonicTwin Regrind line provides additional operational advantages beyond integrated processing, stable material quality, flexible feedstock handling and real-time process control. These benefits support efficient production, easier operation and adaptation to changing application requirements.
- Targeted material upgrading: precise additive dosing and recipe control allow recycled materials to be modified for specific mechanical, processing or end-use requirements.
- Compact installation: the integrated machine concept reduces the space required for separate recycling and compounding equipment.
- Energy-efficient processing: the streamlined process sequence helps minimise unnecessary energy use between individual production stages.
- Fast recipe changeovers: process parameters and additive formulations can be adjusted efficiently for different materials or compound specifications.
- Reduced maintenance downtime: accessible components and simplified machine architecture support easier cleaning, servicing and maintenance.
- Scalable production concept: the line can be configured for different throughput levels and adapted as production volumes or application requirements change.
What Our Customers Say
The conical shape is very advantageous when melting the material, where with little shear and very short dwell time, the material is damaged as little as possible.
