Find The Right Recycling Route For Your Material
The right solution starts with understanding your material.
Material form, contamination, moisture, bulk density and target quality all influence the recycling route.
MAS evaluates your material, compares feasible process options and identifies the right equipment and testing path before making a recommendation.
How MAS Selects the Right Recycling Route
MAS material-based recycling solutions help recyclers choose the right process route for PET, film, rigid plastics, regrind, contaminated plastics, flakes and fibers. Depending on the material behavior, contamination level, moisture, bulk density and output target, MAS can combine DRD Dry Cleaning, PreDensifier technology, conical twin-screw extrusion, CDF Melt Filtration, re-compounding, HyperPET and material testing into a project-specific recycling system.
Choose Your Material Stream — Then Define Its Condition

PET / rPET
Define flake, regrind, sheet or pellet form; starting IV, AA, moisture, contamination and target application.

Film
Define polymer, bulk density, moisture, contamination, printing and feeding behaviour.

Rigid Plastics
Define polymer, source, sorting quality, contamination, size and target recyclate.

Regrind / Polyolefins
Define composition, batch variation, melt behaviour and whether properties must be modified.

Contaminated Plastics
Define contaminant type, size, load, moisture and where it occurs in the process.

Flakes / Fibers
Define polymer, geometry, bulk density, feeding, moisture and validation needs.
When An iQONIC Twin Platform May Fit
These integrated platforms are options only after the input condition, target application and required process stages have been defined. A simpler MAS extrusion, cleaning, filtration or compounding route may be more appropriate for some materials.

HyperPET
Evaluate when PET requires controlled IV development, demanding decontamination or defined food-contact targets.

PreDensifier
Evaluate when lightweight film or fibres require controlled densification to ensure stable, consistent feeding and reliable downstream processing.

Regrind
Evaluate when variable recycled material requires coordinated regranulation, filtration, degassing, additive dosing or re-compounding.
Compare Material Challenges And Feasible Routes
| Material | Main Buyer Question | Feasible Routes To Evaluate |
| PET / rPET | What are the starting IV, AA, moisture, contamination, target application and approval requirements? | HyperPET |
| Film | What polymer, bulk density, moisture, contamination, temperature sensitivity and feeding behaviour apply? | PreDensifier |
| Rigid plastics | What polymer, source, sorting quality, contamination, size and final properties are required? | DRD + MAS extrusion + CDF |
| Regrind / polyolefins | Is straightforward regranulation enough, or must properties be restored/modified? | Re-Compound |
| Contaminated plastics | What contaminant type, size, load, moisture and process location must be addressed? | DRD + CDF |
| Flakes / fibers | How do form, bulk density, feeding, moisture and composition affect processing? | MAS extrusion + Test Center |
Pet Recycling
Choose by output requirement, not simply by polymer name.
Main Questions
- What is the material form and history?
- What are starting IV, AA, moisture, contamination, colour and target application?
- Is food-contact use required, and under which jurisdiction and approval scope?
Honest Guidance
Do not add SSP when the material and target do not require IV development or additional decontamination. Confirm the route with representative material and documented acceptance criteria.
Film Recycling
Compare preparation routes honestly.
Main Questions
- Which polymer and film form?
- What bulk density, moisture, loose/embedded contamination, printing, odour, temperature sensitivity and feed stability apply?
Honest Guidance
PreDensifier may fit low-bulk-density feeding challenges; a cutter-compactor or another preparation route may be better for different material behaviour. Test the real film stream.
Rigid Plastics, Regrind And Flakes
Build the route from cleaning through pellet quality.
Main Questions
- What polymer, source, sorting quality, contamination, particle size, moisture, melt behaviour and final properties apply?
Honest Guidance
Use only the stages justified by the material. Clean, consistent input may not need the same line as variable post-consumer material.
Regrind And Re-Compounding
Separate simple regranulation from true quality upgrading.
Main Questions
- Is simple regranulation enough?
- Which properties must be restored or modified?
- Are additives, fillers or compatibilisers required?
Honest Guidance
Do not recommend integrated re-compounding when clean, consistent input only needs remelting and pelletising. Validate recipes and property targets before configuration.
Contaminated Plastics And Melt Filtration
Diagnose contamination across the complete process.
Main Questions
- Which contaminants, sizes and loads occur?
- Are they loose, embedded or present in the melt?
- How variable are moisture and filtration pressure?
Honest Guidance
Melt filtration cannot replace every upstream cleaning step, and dry cleaning is not suitable for every contaminant. Define the complete contamination-removal route.
Flakes, Fibres And Material Testing
Flakes, fibers, milled materials, powders and other variable forms require reliable intake, dosing and realistic process validation.
Main Questions
- What are polymer, geometry, bulk density, feeding behaviour, moisture, contamination, additives and target application?
Honest Guidance
Variable forms require representative samples and realistic process trials. A machine name alone cannot confirm suitability.
Not Sure Which Route Fits Your Material?
Send representative material before equipment selection. Include the material source and form, polymer composition, contamination, moisture, current process, required throughput, target application and final quality. MAS will review feasible routes, define whether testing is needed and agree the measurements and acceptance criteria for the next decision.
- Material or polymer group
- Contamination and moisture
- Required throughput
- Desired output quality
Validate Your Material Before Line Configuration
Testing the real customer material helps MAS define the required preparation, extrusion, filtration, compounding or PET-specific treatment.
| Test Focus | What It Determines |
| Feeding / density | Preparation and densification route |
| Moisture / volatiles | Drying and degassing duty |
| Contamination | Cleaning and filtration mode |
| Output target | Final process configuration |
